What is CiC-Engiadina?
On January 19, 2007, a society according to Swiss law was founded in Lavin/Switzerland, in the mountainous valley of the Engadine/Engiadina, and called "CiC-Engiadina, Community initiative for Community".
The goal of this society is the promotion of a sustainable development in the Indian mountain regions of the state of Uttarakhand.
CiC-Engiadina operates in close collaboration with Indian partners from HESCO (Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organization), a local NGO. The managing director of this organization, Dr. Anil P. Joshi, visited the Engadine in the Swiss mountains in October 2006.
He was able to meet with many people of different professions who are willing to share their knowledge and skills.
Goals
CiC-Engiadina promotes and coordinates initiatives from mountain people for mountain people. The central idea is the transfer of experience and know-how from mountain communities in Switzerland to communities in India who live in similar natural and climatic surroundings.
We aim for direct assistance "one to one", which enables our community members to become engaged directly and personally. Our projects are based on concrete wishes and needs as expressed by our Indian partners. With the help of its members and donors, CiC-Engiadina can realize individual projects in Uttarakhand and/or organize vocational education and on-the-job training in the Engadine for members of the Indian community.
